Balancing the Love and Fear of God
September 12, 2024Overcoming the Original Temptation
September 26, 2024Below is a powerful testimony that I shared in the book Can A Christian Have a Demon? of deliverance from mental torment and the spirit of death. Jesus is still the deliverer!
Deliverance From the Spirit of Death
Kate Newcomer, who currently serves as my assistant at Jake Kail Ministries, has shared her testimony of deliverance from the spirit of death on several occasions publicly. As you read her testimony below, keep in mind that Kate had been a believer for many years at the time of her deliverance. She had received Christ and surrendered her life to Him, been baptized, was walking with the Lord, and faithfully attending and serving in church.
In 2017, Kate experienced a few traumatic events involving death. These situations opened the door for her to begin pondering the concept of death more than usual. While this can be natural, it began to turn into unhealthy fear. There would be thoughts of herself or loved ones dying in freak accidents or tragedies. Eventually, it centered on fears about her husband dying.
Over time, these fears grew more frequent, irrational, and tormenting. Kate became convinced that her husband was going to die at any moment. When he left for work in the morning, she was convinced it was the last time she would see him alive. If he did not answer the phone on her first call, she would call repeatedly, convinced that he had been in a car accident. She didn’t see the point in planning for the future because she was convinced that he would be dead. She even began to ponder details about what his funeral could be like!
Though Kate was familiar with deliverance (she was attending the church I was pastoring), she did not think she had a demon. She had convinced herself that it was normal to have these types of thoughts and fears when you loved someone, and she learned how to simply cope with it all. In May of 2019, she attended a deliverance service that I was leading in our region. She had heard that I was going to be teaching on freedom from the effects of trauma and abuse, so she brought a friend who had recently come out of a horrible, abusive relationship. While her friend was powerfully delivered that night, God also had something in store for Kate.
During the corporate ministry time, I was casting out spirits and calling out specific demons as I felt led. Kate began to feel something swirling in her stomach but assumed she was just nervous about what her friend might be thinking of what was happening in the room since deliverance was new to her. Then, as I continued praying over the congregation, I commanded the spirit of death to come out. As soon as I did, Kate bent forward involuntarily and was unable to stand up straight. Observing what had happened, I pointed to her and said, “Kate, you’re going to be set free from the spirit of death and the fear of death tonight!”
Some people who were around her in the congregation began to pray for her. Then, she came to the front to receive more ministry. I prayed over her for healing from the traumatic experiences she had walked through in 2017, and I cast out any spirits of death or fear that were influencing her life. The results were immediate. From that day forward, her mind became clear, and she was free from the constant thoughts of death. She was amazed by the difference in her thinking and mindset.
Since that time, Kate has stepped out to minister deliverance to many others. And when she shares her testimony, others are often set free from the spirit of death as well. God is a redeemer and a restorer!
