This past Sunday I preached a message at Threshold Church called “Restoring the Ministry of Deliverance.”
Deliverance ministry refers to casting out demons in order to free people from torment, oppression, and bondage. Another way to put it is to free others from the influence of evil spirits.
Reading through the gospels shows that deliverance ministry was very common for Jesus. Mark 1:39 says, “And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons.” Casting out demons was just as normal for Jesus as preaching sermons. Not only that, but He commissioned His followers to cast out evil spirits as well.
And yet, deliverance ministry is often not practiced by the modern church. Why is that? What keeps people from seeing the truth about the work of evil spirits and the need to deal with them?
In this message, I look at some of the common misunderstandings and myths that we must overcome in order to restore the ministry of deliverance. When we remove the fear, confusion, and stigma that is often associated with this ministry, we will pave the way for many to be set free from demonic influence!
